A
- mandibular branch of the trigeminal V3

Geniohyoid
Mylohyoid
7
Q
what are the infra hyoid muscles
A
Sternohyoid
Sternothyroid
Thyrohyoid
Omohyoi
8
Q
what do the supra hyoid and inftrahyiod muscles do
A
- help fix the hyoid bones in place - this will give the change to the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of the tongue a change to be more efficient during speech
9
Q
what happens during the eagling phases of swallowing
A
- contraction of Mylohyoid and Digastric muscles (both bellies) will raise the hyoid bone and the tongue altogether, pushing the food bolus against the palate (which is closing the Nasopharynx)
- contraction of the Geniohyoid will increase the lumen of the Oropharynx to receive the bolus
- contraction of the Stylohyoid pulls the hyoid bone and tongue further upwards and backward squeezing the bolus down the Hypopharynx
