Mass and weight - Force and energy changes Flashcards
What is the internal energy?
Total energy stored by particles in a system. (in kinetic and potential energy stores.)
How does heating increase internal energy?
Heating transfers energy to particles.
Increases systems internal energy.
This leads to a change in temperature or state.
How much the temperature changes depends on the mass of the system, Its specific heat capacity and how much energy is transferred to it.
A change of state happens when particles have enough energy in kinetic energy stored to break bonds holding them together.
What is mass and what is it measured in?
measured in KG.
amount of matter in a object.
What is weight measured in and what is it?
Measured in Newtons.
Force acting on an object due to gravity.
Mass and weight are directly what?
Directly proportional.
What is acceleration directly proportional to?
resultant force.
And it is inversely proportional to the mass of the object.
