Q

How does a displacement reaction happen with halogens?

A

A reaction can take place between a halogen and the salt of a less reactive halogen.
E.g chlorine is more reactive than bromine’s so if you add chlorine to a solution containing bromide salt, bromine will be displaced - cl_2(g) + 2KBr(aq) -> Br_2(aq) + 2KCl (aq)
