How to predict whether it will float in water

A

The density of water is 1g/cm^3
If the density is lower it will float, vice versa

Q

Find the density of a liquid

A

Measure the mass of the measuring cylinder by putting in on a balance
Fill the liquid and measure new mass

New mass - old mass = mass of the liquid

The volume can be read on the cylinder

Q

Find the volume of a solid

A

Measure the volume of the solid

If the solid is regular shape find the volume by using a ruler to measure the dimensions
If the solid is irregular then immerse it with water and measure the volume of the water when risen

New liquid volume - old liquid volume

Find the density using equation

Q

Inertia

A

Resistance to change in motion
The larger the mass to harder to change its motion
(Cant immediately stop a heavy truck)
