The ideas based on Karl Marx. It is a conflict between the rich and the poor. Therefore, it is a conflict theory.

Economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production.

Bourgeoisie - middle class Proletariat - working class

What is the means of production?
A
The materials, for example the machinery and raw materials that people use in production. Under capitalism these include big businesses, factories and land.

A
The relationships between people as they engage in production. Under capitalism this includes the two groups bourgeoisie and proletariat.

A
The bourgeoisie have the power to enforce order.
