CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR
refers to how people make decisions about what products/services to buy
SCHEMAS IN ADVERTISING
- schemas help is to make sense of the world by making it predictable
- predictability is the enemy of advertising
PRIMING IN ADVERTISMENT
a key form of priming is the context (surrounding features) of an advert. e.g a song that is famously known for the brand like LV green car company
TWO TYPES OF PRIMING IN ADVERTISING
- Subliminal messages
- Brainwashing
SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES
- Stimuli that are not percieved consiously.
- In adverts such messages may be presented quickly
e.g vodka had an advert with their logo on ice cubes
BRAINWASHING
- These are methods used to control or alter what a person is thinking.
e.g colgate tooth paste saying they are the best

SOCIAL PROOF (ISI)
in a situation in which we dont know what to think or do we look to others for what we should do (ISI)
BANDWAGON EFFECT (NSI)
refers to the tendency most people have of doing something because others are doing it
WHAT DOES NEUROMARKETING APPLY TO
the study of the brain to maketing including advertising
fMRI scanner
detects changes in blood oxygenation and flow in specific parts of the brain by taking pictures of the brain in slices
EEG scanner
measures the brain’s electrical activity with electrodes
EYE TRACKING
Eye movements linked to brain activity
FACIAL CODING
electrodes attached to people’s faces detect slight muscle movements when watching something.
