  • OT personnel shall demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity; and shall not engage in criminal, unprofessional or other unlawful activity or behavior.
  • all services shall be offered in a professional manner and promoted in accordance with the ethical rules of the HPCSA.
  • OT personnel shall maintain their clinical/ professional independence and shall not enter unacceptable business practices/ inappropriate commercial arrangements
  • OT personnel shall achieve and continously maintain high standards of competence and be aware of current trends and be aware of current legal issues or developments affecting their practice
  • OT personnel shall report violations and seek redress where there are good or persuasive reasons to believe that the rights of client’s are being ciolatrf

  • technical correctness ( be aware of requirements of marketing and follow them correctly, avoid typing/spelling errors. Proof read materials before making them public)

What do you need to take into consideration when documenting with CARE?

A

C- clarity; target population must be able to understand the information. Use clear, concise and unbiased language. Avoid use of professional jargon and where its used ensure that meaning is clearly stated.
A- accuracy; content factually correct. Information must be provable and there must be a clear distinction between objective facts and subjective opinions. Must be done according to prescribed format
R- relevance; information should be relevant to goal, target population and choice of medium. Avoid unnecessary and ambiguous info
E- exceptions; specifically applicable to clinical documentation. It’s important to distinguish between a single unusual occurrence and a frequent occurrence
