Ex: Chicago developed into a big city in the late eighteenth.

Ex: we plan to extend the kitchen by six feet.

Expand
Ex: the urban area is continuing to expand rapidly with new housing estates continuing to be built.
To move a building or business to a different place
Relocate
Ex: a lot of firms are relocating to the north of England.
To change something into a different form or to change something so that it can be used for a different purpose or in a different way
Convert
Ex: they converted the spare bedroom into an office.
