Cavernous arteries are constricted and little blood is sent to the blood vessels in corpus cavernosum
Deep dorsal vein is uncompressed and blood can leave penis
What happens during an erection?
Parasympathetic neurons target helcine arteries
Cavernous arteries dilate which increases blood flow into corpus cavernosum
Deep dorsal vein compresses and blood can’t leave the penis
What happens during ejaculation?
Sympathetic neurons stimulate:
Internal urethral sphincter to close
Contraction of smooth muscle in epididymis, vas deferens, and ejaculatory duct
Stimulates secretion of accessory glands

Clotting factors
Substances to help sperm move
Substances to suppress immune response in female repr, tract and kill bacteria
Which muscles help with expulsion of semen?
