Where do sperm production occur?
In the testes - the process of spermatogenesis production of sperm
What is the hormone that is created by the testes?
testosterone responsible for the secondary sexual characteristics - hair growth, muscle growth.
Sperm production has to happen at a certain temperature. what controls that temperature?
It is controlled by the scrotum
How do the vas deferens play a role in the movement of sperm?
It drains the epididymis of the sperm bringing the sperm upward behind the bladder into the urethra
What is semen?
It is the sperm with the secretion of glands
What accessory gland is responsible for neutralizing the acidity of urine in the urethra?
Bulbourethral gland
What is the function of prostaglandins?
It is to help with the movement of sperm from the vagina to the uterus
How does the main shaft of the penis and head/glans differ?
the main shaft is covered by thick skin whereas the head (glands) has a thinner layer and is surrounded by fold of skin
What will happen if fertilization does not happen?
Corpus luteum degenerates
A new follicle matures during the next cycle
Uterine lining is removed
