Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
The hormone produced by the anterior pituitary that stimulates the development of spermatozoa in the testes
Testis
The male gonad, there are two testes, normally situated in the scrotum which produce sperm cells and male sex hormones.
Lobule
One of two layers that surround each testis
Spermatogonium
A male germ cell that gives rise to a spermatocyte early in spermatogenesis
Spermatocyte
A male germ cell that arises from a spermatogonium
Spermatozoon
A mature male gamete that develops in the seminiferous tubules of the testes, consisting of a head, midpiece, and a tail
Ejaculatory Duct
The passage formed by the junction of the duct of the seminal vesicles and ductus deferens through which semen enters the urethra
Seminal Vesicle
One of a pair of saclike accessory glands located posterior to the urinary bladder in the male that provides nourishment for sperm
Prostate
A gland, located below the neck of the bladder in males, that surrounds the proximal portion of the urethra
Cowper’s Gland
One of two pea-sized glands near the base of the penis in the male. AKA bulbourethral gland
Semen
A thick, whitish secretion of the male reproductive organs discharged from the urethra on ejaculation
Epididymis
One of the pair of long, tightly coiled tubules along the posterior margin of each testis that store and carry sperm from the testis to the vas deferens
Glands Penis
The bulbous end of the penis
Prepuce/Foreskin
A fold of loose skin that covers the glans penis
Emission
A discharge or release of seminal fluid into the urethra
