MALE REPRODUCTIVE Flashcards
Are the two glands in which spermatozoa are developed. They lie in the sac—”scrotum” below the pubic bones and are separated by a partition.
TESTES/Testicles
Is a single globular gland about 1.5 inches in diameter and lies below the outlet of the urinary bladder. It is composed of many tubules which form a small duct which empty into the prostatic urethra.
PROSTATE GLAND
Are two tube-like glands which lie behind the urinary bladder. Each has a main duct that joins the Ductus Deferens to form an Ejaculatory duct.
SEMINAL VESICLES
Are two small glands that lie on each side of the urethra below the prostate.
BULBOURETHRAL GLANDS
Forms the prominence on the back of each testis. It is composed of a single tube which is coiled upon itself.
EPIDIDYMIS
Is a continuation of a duct of the epididymis that passes from the lower end of a testis up to the scrotum and in front of the pubic bone to the lower abdominal wall.
DEFERENT DUCTS/DUCTUS DEFERENS / VAS DEFERENS
Are formed by the union of the Ductus Deferens and duct from the Seminal Vesicle on each side. Each passes through the prostate gland to open into the prostatic urethra.
EJACULATORY DUCTS
It is cylindrical in shape and is attached below the pubis in front of the scrotum.
PENIS
Passes through its entire length of the penis to open at the distal end – meatus.
Urethra
Is the distal enlarged end of the penis.
Gland
Is the covering of the glans penis.
