Is a fold of peritoneum that covers the floor of the pelvis in the female. It crosses the pelvis from one side to the other which divides the pelvis into an anterior part containing the bladder and the posterior part containing the rectum.
Broad Ligament
Is the female reproductive cell or egg and is formed in the ovary.
Ovum
Is the maturing and expulsion of an ovum from the ovary that occurs every 28 days.
Ovulation
Is the union of a female ovum with a “spermatozoon” – the male reproductive cell.
Fertilization
Is the age at which ovulation and menstruation begins.
Puberty
Is the discharge of blood and the lining membrane of the uterus.
Menstruation
Are two flat oval organs which lie one in each side of the pelvis. Each measures about 1.5 to 2 inches in length.
Ovaries
Is a cell nest that has undergone further development.
Graafian or Ovarian Follicle
Is the follicle AFTER the ovum or the egg has been expelled.
Corpus Luteum
A hollow tubes which passes from the outer upper angles of the uterus and passes in the broad ligament.
UTERINE TUBES
The Lateral end of Uterine Tubes that is open and has several finger-like processes called the
Fimbriae
Three Coats of the Fallopian Tube;
- Epithelial Lining
- Involuntary Muscle
- Peritoneal Covering
Is a flattened pear-shaped organ measuring about 3 x 2 x 1 inches in size. It lies in the broad ligament in the female pelvis and its central cavity is triangular in shape when viewed from the front. It is an organ in which the fertilized ovum or egg develops. It increases in size along with the growing fetus.
