Q
What are points to include in patient education for Testicular Self- Exams?
A
In teaching a patient (age 13-14 or up) about testicular exams we want to point out that while we can examine for signs of cancer, typically it is about familiarity with ones own penis in order to distinguish abnormal traits that might be a cause for concern.
Timing of a TSE should be about once a month and should take place in a warm Shower in order to relax the scrotal sac, then you will examine for any changes, which should be reported to a provider.
This should not be painful, if done right.
