When inspecting the Perianal Area What are considered abnormal findings?
Abnormal findings in the Perianal Area may include the appearance of;
Inflammation
Lesions or scars
Flabby skin sacs- indicate Hemmorrhoid
Shiny Blue Skin Sac- INdicate Thrombosed Hemmorrhoid
A Small round opening in the anal area or Fistula
*The appearance of fissure or hemorrhoids is abnormal.
In an inspection of the Perianal Area what are indications of a Pilonidal Cyst?
Indications of a Pilonidal Cyst include;
Inflammation, Tenderness, Swelling, appearance of a tuft of hair, or a dimple at the tip of teh cocyx.
in the Perianal Area what indicates Rectal Prolapse?
Rectal Prolapse is often indicated by a circular red doughnut of tissue.
What are abnormal findings to look out for when palpating the Anus and Rectum?
Upon palpation of the Anus and Rectum be sure to note any;
Decreased tone
As well as increased tone that is accompanied by inflammtion, anxiety, and any tenderness of the Anus or Rectum.
When might you suspect the prescence of a polyp in the Anus and Rectum?
Polyps are frequently described at a soft slighly moveable mass.
A firm or hard mass with irrecuglar shape or rolled edges may indicate what?
CRC or Carcinoma.
What are considered abnormal stools? And what might they indicate?
Some abnormal stool characteristics include;
Jelly like Mucus shreds that indicate inflammation
Bright Red Blood on the Stool Surface- indicates rectal bleeding.
Bright Red Blood Mixed in Stool-Indicates Colonic Bleeding
Black Tarry Stool (With Distinct Malodor)- INdicates upper GI Bleeding with blood partially ingested.
