What is malabsorption?
A
Defective mucosal absorption
Digestive system does not have function/ or enzymes to break down substances from diet

A
Diarrhoea

Bloating

Anaemia Oedema Steattorhea Bleeding disorders Neuropathy

Lactose malabsorption - intolerance?
A
Produces little/ no lactase (enzyme) so they will not break down lactose into glucose and galactose
Undigested molecule causes digestive problems (diho, abdominal pain)

Diagnosis of lactose intolerance?
A
Confirmed by lactose breath hydrogen test
