- quicker decision making since it only concerns those most senior
- consistency-those highest in business will share same vision
- motivation-staff may be more motivated as they know they have a clear job to do ,given by the seniors

- useful for better training since they can watch employees better to see who underperforms
- better communication (useful for big firms)

- costly- may need to employ additional members to watch over since employees will be split up into smaller parts
- demotivating-employees may not feel trusted as they would be watched
- can disrupt work if managers will be taking time out of work to manage these employees
