Drugs that suppress anxiety and relax muscles (sometimes called anxiolytics, sedatives, or minor tranquilizers)
What is the class of antianxiety drugs called
Benzodiazepines (Benzos)
What is the most common antianxiety drug?

What are antiarrhythmic drugs?
Drugs used to control irregular heartbeats.
Most common antiarrhythmic drug
Amiodarone (cordarone, pacerone)
*Commonly used for supraventricular and atrial ventricular heartbeats
What are calcium channel blockers?
Used to lower BP, treat chest pain, and in some irregular heart rhythms to keep HR from going too fast.
What are some of the common calcium channel blockers?
Amlodipine (norvasc)
Diltiazem (cardizem, tiazac)
Nicardipine (cardene SR)
Verapamil (Calan, Verelen, Covera-HS)
What are anticoagulants?
Slow down clotting thereby reducing fibrin formation and preventing clots from forming or growing
What are antiplatelets?
Agents prevent platelets from clumping and also prevent clots from forming and growing.
What are the names of anticoagulants
Apixaban (Eliquis)
Dabigatran (pradaxa)
Revaroxaban (xarelto)
Warfarin (coumadin)
What are the names of antiplatelets
Aspirin
Clopidogrel (plavix)
Prasugrel (effient)
Ticagrelor (brillenta)
What are antidepressants?
Used for depression but can also be used to treat anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, and OCD
What are common SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor)
Citalopram (celexa)
Sertraline (zoloft)
Fluoxetine (prozac)
Paroxetine (paxil)
What are antiemetics?
Drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting
What is the most common use of a serotonin antagonist?
Ondansetron (zofran)
What are antihypertensives?
Drugs that lower BP. The types of antihypertensives currently marketed include diuretics, beta blockers, calcium channel blocker, ACE inhibitors, and ARB
What are the most common diuretics?
Furosemide (lasix)
Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril)
What are common beta blockers
Metoprolol (lopressor)
What are common ACE inhibitors
Lisinopril (prinivil, zesteril)
*Which causes chronic cough and angioedema (swelling of lips tongue and throat)
What are hypoglycemics?
Blocking breakdown of starches and some sugars in your intestines, decreasing the amount of glucose your liver produces and releases into the blood stream, stimulate the pancreas to release insulin, sending extra glucose out of your body vua urine
What is a common drug for hypoglycemia
Metformin (Glucophage) comes in short or long acting form
What are Proton-pump inhibitors
Work by prohibiting certain cells from pumping acid into the stomach thus decreasing the production of stomach acid
What are common proton-pump inhibitors
Omeprazole (prilosec)
pantoprazole (protonix)
Lansoprazole (prevacid)
Esomeprazole (nexium)
