A

1/4” and 3/8”

23
Q

DASP - DIVERS AIR SAMPLE PROGRAM

DIVERS air procured commercial source SHALL:

A

1- be certified in writing by the vendor
2- GRADE A SOURCE 1 (presurized cylinder)
3- SOURCE II - compressor

24
Q

DASP: when do you do a air sample?

A

every 6 mos w/in interval betw/ 4 to 8 mos:

  • following last tested
  • contamination is suspected
  • after system overhaul

note: the most recent air sample analysis report shall be maintained on file for sac. air compressor.

25
Q

what size cylinders are we authorised to use?

A

1- aluminum 80’s
2- steel 100’s
3- steel 63’s
4- pony .8cu (ics)

26
Q

WHAT IS THE PNEUMO MADE OF, SIZE, AND RATED PRESSURE?

A

BLACK NYLON PLASTIC
3/16” DIAMATER
MAX INTERNAL PRESSURE OF 200PSIG
PNEUMO GUAGE 0-250’.

27
Q

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ICS?

A

ICS REDUCES THE NORMAL UMBILICAL SUPPLY OF 350PSIG TO BETWEEN 150-170PSIG OVER AMBIENT PRESSURE TO THE DEMAND MODE (HELMET/ MASK).

28
Q

DESCRIBE HOW THE AIR FLOWS THROUGH THE SYSTEM.

A

xlds system uses a specially designed 1/4” main gas umbilical assembly that reduces the weight and bulk of the umbilicals to approx. half of the surface supply.
console produces supplied air of 350-375psi to a volume compensated pressure control system worn by the diver ics.
ics manifold w/ .8ltr accumulator and manifold regulator system that reduces high velocity medium pressure breathing air betw/ 155-165psig to the helmet / mask.

29
Q

what (4) components make up the umbilical assembly?

A
breathing gas hose
pneumo
comms
grab line (20')
note: both comms and grab line has a D ring snap shackle attached to it.
30
Q

what is the umbilical hose rated at what psig? (2)

A

designed at 1500 psig

rated at 400psig

31
Q

what is the minimum breaking strain for the comms line?

A

2200 lbs minimum

800lbs strength lifting capacity

32
Q

what is the purposes of the check valve and where are they located at?

A

purpose of the check valve is to not let air escape from the egs if for instance the umbilical gas hose severed or damaged.
check valve is located in the manifold of the ics and km97 hat.
ICS: check valve allows breathing air to flow into manifold block assembly from EGS cylinder carried on divers back. If the umbilical air supply is interrupted, the diver can open EGS valve using control knob. The breathing air is channeled from the EGS, through the manifold block assembly and into the umbilical to mask hose assembly attached to the demand regulator.

33
Q

Can we use a MK20 MOD 1 for contaminated water diving?

A

NO, because it’s non positive pressure, meaning occasional water will enter mask.

34
Q

What temperature can MK20 sustain up to?

A

29 degree water and warmer

35
Q

Describe what is the KM97 helmet? (3)

A

1- 455 balance regulator stainless steel that offers for greater overall breathing performance than the non balanced super flow 350 regulator.
2- Operates in water temp as low as 34 degrees.
3- Weighs 31lbs.

36
Q

Explain how the KM97 regulator works?

A

Regulator is loaded as the diver increasing descends and unloaded as diver returns to surface. If the diver experience free flow w/ regulator, when the bias adjustment knob is properly set and regulator has been maintained correctly, the pressure setting on the HP regulator may be set too high and may need to be decreased.
Quad exhaust system is recommended for contaminated diving.

37
Q

Explain how check valve works on KM97?

A

One way valve (check valve) prevents the flow of gas out of the helmet to the umbilical in the event of a sudden lowering of pressure in the umbilical. This can happen due to accidental break in the hose or fitting near surface.
Not only would EGS can be lost if the one way valve failed, but the diver could suffer from a serious squeeze that could cause injury or death.
One way valve must be tested daily or every diving day.
