Q

As magents move further away fromeach other

A

The force of attraction/repulsion between them gets weaker. This implies that the force is iversely proportionate to the distance between the poles

Q

temporary magnets

A

can be easily magnetized and just as easily demagnetized, materials such as iron etc. are temporary magnets

Q

Magnetic fields

A

A region or area around a magnet in which a force is felt due to the magnet. It can be represented by a series of lines with arrows indicating direction. Mag. fields always leave the north pole and enter the south pole. The number of field lines per unit area indicates the strength of the magnetic field, the closer they are, the stronger the field

Q

Magnetic field strength

A

greater at the center than at the sides of the wores. Thus they are pushed apart/repulsion

17
Q

electromagnets

A

formed when a current is passed through a solenoid
It becomes magnetized once current flows through it

18
Q

Ways to increase electromagnetic strength

A

soft iron core
increase magnitude of the current in the solenoid
increase the number of turns on the solenoid by increasing the length

19
Q

Decrease the length of solenoid but keep the same number fof turns (compress it)

A

.
