Macrolide’s are contraindicated in what?

hepatic dysfunction

What are the side effects for Macrolide’s?
A
blurry vision, photosensitivity, conjunctivitis, abd pain, GI distress, C-diff, Stevens-Johnson syndrome

What are the nsg for Macrolide’s?
A
Increases effects of digoxin, warfarin, and cyclosporine.
Decreases effects of PCN’s and Clindamycin.
Monitor liver enzymes.
Avoid giving excess Tylenol (can increase hepatic dysfunction).
Avoid alcohol.
Azithro- give 1 hr BEFORE/ 2 hrs AFTER w/full glass of water.
