A

RED MAN SYNDROME (from med infusing too fast), hypotension, hypokalemia, nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, GI distress, flushing, HA, peripheral edema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, generalized tingling, neutropenia

What are the nsg for Glycopeptide’s?

A

Infuse slowly to prevent red man syndrome!
Monitor for renal function.
R/f nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity increases if pt taking w/Lasix, aminoglycoside’s, cyclosporine.
(Vanco) trough = 30min before next dose (after 3rd does); Peak level 1-2 hrs after end of infusion (4th dose)
