MABs Flashcards
Pembrolizumab
Blockade of the PD1-PDL1 interaction
Used in refractory metastatic melanoma.
Pembrolizumab, sold under the brand name Keytruda, is a humanized antibody used in cancer immunotherapy that treats melanoma, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma, and stomach cancer.
It is an IgG4 isotype antibody that blocks a protective mechanism of cancer cells and thereby, allows the immune system to destroy them. It targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor of lymphocytes.
Ipilimumab
Blockade of the CTLA-4 pathway
Bevacizumab
VEGF inhibitor. Inhibition of tumor neoangiogenesis
Rituximab
Anti-CD 20 MAB indicated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Imatinib
Tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Imatinib is specific for the TK domain in abl (the Abelson proto-oncogene), c-kit and PDGF-R (platelet-derived growth factor receptor). Specifically, it is used for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) that are Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+), certain types of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST),
Vemurafenib
Selective kinase inhibitor used for BRAF mutation in melanoma
Dabrafenib
Selective kinase inhibitor used for BRAF mutation in melanoma
