A
  • symptomatic treatment (not a cure)
  • alleviate sympt if there is an allergic component
  • block histamine (H1) receptors
  • can cause drowsiness, and anticholinergic sympt (dry mouth, tachycardia, etc)
  • prepared alone, combined w other meds
