Where does the lubrication system distribute oil to?
Engine bearing compartments and gearboxes
Where is the supply filter located in terms to the supply pump?
Downstream of supply pump
What does the supply filter do?
Prevents blockage of nozzles
What does the scavenge system do?
Returns oil from the gearbox and bearing compartments to the oil tank
What does the scavenge system prevent?
Accumulation of oil in gearboxes and bearing assemblies
What does the vent system do?
Releases air from lubrication system to atmosphere
The vent system removes air and also?
Replaces the air which pumped out of the gearbox with scavenge oil
What do mechanical clogging indicators do and what are they also known as?
Detect clogged filters and also known as pop out indicators
Where are pop out indicators usually installed?
In the individual scavenge system of each line
Where is the oil quantity indicated?
Engine interface unit (EIU)
What 2 transmitters are used for the EIU?
Capacitance resistor and reed switch resistor
What do transmitters sense in terms of pressure?
Pressure difference between total oil pressure in oil supply line and vent pressure in the tank
Where can oil temp indicators be found?
In the scavenge system
What are the 2 main temperature sensors?
Thermocouple, thermistor
Where can the oil quantity be checked?
Sight gauge on oil tank, EICAM, EICAS
