What is lymphedema?
A
Lymph fluid buildup usually due to obstruction in the lymph system causing increased fluid in interstitial space, causing inflamamtory reaction and fibrosis and hardening

What can cause lymohedema?
A
Fibariasis- nematode infection or cancer- metastasis or primary lymphoma or lymph node removal
Primary- congenital

How is lymphedema diagnosed?
A
difficult, look at both signs
WHO stages- 0- damage to lymphatic but no lymphedema, 1- pitting(indents when pressed), 2- spongy and non pitting with fibrosis. irreversible, large and hardened

Treatment of lymphedema
A
compressive bandages, lymphatic massages, surgery
