-when changing an acting verb into a noun in this way (verb stem + -는 것), the form can take many different meanings
- “doing” something
- the act of “doing” something
- the thing which one “does”
- what one “does”
- the fact that one is “doing” or “does” something
것 originally means “a thing”, “an object”, or “stuff” but when used in this way, it can also mean “a fact” or “an act”
-는 거 is sometimes used because it is easier to pronounce (but it is never used in formal situations)
