The pleural sac (thin sheet of pleura)
-Visceral pleura (inside layer) is attached to lung by connective tissue
-Parietal pleura (outer layer) is attached to and lines the inner thoracic wall and diaphragm
-The two layers are separated by a thin layer of intrapleural fluid (this lubricates the pleural surfaces so that they can slide over each other during breathing)
