Lumbar Xrays - lateral Flashcards
Provide a short critique
Intervertebral foramina seen and spinous processes in profile
Pedicles and posterior surfaces of each vertebral body superimposed
Intervertebral disk spaces are open
Vertebral bodies seen without distortion
Illiac crests superimposed
How do you know which section of the body rotated when looking at the lumbar spine?
If thorax rotated then superior lumbar vertebra rotated and if pelvis rotated then lower lumbar vertebra rotated.
How does lumbar sagging occur and what is the disadvantage?
Sagging occurs because the shoulders are broader than the pelvis or vice versa and it prevents the diverging rays to enter the disc spaces to open them. Put a sponge under the lateral sag.
