FOOT AP OBLIQUE Flashcards
What is the short critique for an oblique foot X-ray?
Cuboid and cuneiform joint space open 2-5th inter metatarsals joint spaces open Sinus tarsi open 5th tuberosity seen Base of thirst MT centre 1.25 cm above the tib fib
What does the amount of obliquity of the foot depend on?
The angle of the medial arch. If in an AP foot X-ray you angled 5 degrees then then the obliquity should be thirty degrees. Angled 10 then 45 degrees obliquity and 15 degree angulation of CR should be a 60 degree obliquity.
What happens to the 1-2 MT bases in this X-ray?
The 2nd base superimposes the 1st MT base. This indicates the degree of obliquity of the foot.
How do you know when you’ve obliqued the foot too much?
The MT bases overlap each other.
If you see the 4th MT tubercle in profile
The 5th proximal MT is superimposed over the 4th MT tubercle
To keep the same relationship between the AP foot and the oblique foot, what do you keep consistent?
Do not change the extension of the ankle
What joints should you see open in a obliqued foot?
Cuneiform-cuboid, navicular- cuboid and 2nd through 5th intermetatarsal joint spaces.
What is the range of foot obliquity?
30-60 degrees
