Reaction
Cartwright had own security forces open fire on protesters (before his assassination)
10,000 soldiers sent to stop Luddites
Spencer Perceval enforced the 1812 FRAME BREAKING ACT, which was punishable by death yet not effective
Punishments
17 executed so became MARTYRS
Luddism faded as food prices fell and trade improved
