Why did they strike?
A
Average worker only earned £1 a week and they needed a minimum of £1.50 for food clothing and shelter. No regulated working hours

Went on strike, picketed dock gates to stop employers smuggling other workers Stayed on good terms with police Anti violence Distributed donated food to families Had daily meetings to keep up morale

After 5 weeks of striking they agreed to the strikers demands
