LSB - module 4 - getting better Flashcards
poker
When drilling in GTOW, What action type should I use and why?
Grouped - there’s no real difference in practice between 25% and 33% bet size, or 66% and 50%.
What questions should I ask when reviewing hands I played?
What are the thresholds? (eg threshold hand for value check-raise) What are the frequencies (check-raise frequency of my range on that board).
What’s the appropriate sizing with my range?
Which are the best bluff candidates (the hands that I raise as a bluff the most often)
What range do I target?
What hands in my range are pure strategy?
How should I approach hand review? What tools should I use?
Hand review is a puzzle, use notepad/pen&paper to answer the questions.
How many hours a day should I study?
2 hours is ideal
How many reg tables should I play?
6-8 is the optimal range
When should I play more exploitative?
Fish, regs in zones where they are exploitable
When should I play more balanced?
The best opponents, regs in common zones
What does it mean to get better in poker?
95% integrating and refining heuristics, build heuristics into my unconscious mind.
What drill types should i use? What are they used for?
- Full hand mode - discover zones in which I lack heuristics
- Specific node drills - memorize the patterns
What are aggregated reports used for? What do I need to use in conjunction with those?
Find new patterns. I still need to drill the new heuristics into my unconscious mind by building specific node drills for those.
What’s a common way of studying deep theoretical work?
Studying toy games (see the mathematics of poker).
Name 3 methods of obtaining new heuristics
- Full drills- drill until i recognize a specific zone in which I lack heuristics
- Aggregated reports
- Talking with other players about hands
Name 3 methods of memorizing new heuristics
- Specific spot drills
- Flashcards
- Deep theoretical work that answers the “why” behind strategies
How to allocate study time?
20% full hand drills
25% specific node drills
15% aggregated reports
15% studying flash cards
10% feedback from other players
10% deep theoretical work
5% breaks
When should I study?
The earliest part of the day- so I won’t miss out on studying for sure.
