Q

kernmantle rope

A

Filaments- individual thread twisted to form each strand of the core and sheath
STRANDS- nylon filaments twisted to form strands which make up the core
IDENTIFICATION TAPE- printed with the man name and production standards. Runs length of rope batch and production date.
CORE- parallel strands, left and right hand lay to reduce rope twist and spin
SHEATH- braided to protect the core

Q

abrasion

A

most significant cause of line failure resulting in serious injury or death
DO-protect edges
DONT- stand/walk/jump on rope (grit or sharp objects in rope)
- draw or drag line across ground or surfaces

Q

After use of LRL

A
  • inspected b4 and after every use
  • After use, where work is done, fill out the rope card and send to FS10
-history of usage recorded at FS10
-If damage found or suspected, fill out rope card and send rope card AND rope to 10
  • FS10 carry replacement and spare SW@h kit components

A

TRUSS
easy to tie
easy to recognise
easy to undo
won’t slip
