Lower limb anatomy Flashcards
1
Q
neurovascular innervation of the thigh
A
- femoral nerve (anterior): quads, flexion of the hip, an extension of the knee
- sciatic nerve (posterior) extension of the hip, flexion of the knee
2
Q
neurovascular innervation of lower limb
A
sciatic nerve divides into
- tibial (posterior)
- common fibular (wraps around)
common fibular divides into
- superficial fibular (lateral)
- deep fibular (anterior)
3
Q
thigh compartments
A
anterior- flexion of hip, extension of knee *femoral nerve
middle- hip adduction *obsturator nerve
posterior- flexion of knee, extension of hip *sciatic nerve
4
Q
lower limb neurovascular supply
A
tibial nerve
- posterior
- plantarflexion
- inversion
common fibular
wraps around from posterior to anterior and gives the:
superficial fibular nerve
- lateral compartment of lower limb
- eversion
- plantarflexion
deep fibular nerve *anterior compartment *inversion *dorsiflexion (FOOT DROP)
5
Q
foot drop
A
damage to the deep fibular nerve results in foot drop as it cannot dorsiflex so cannot oppose the plantarflexion of tibial nerve.
