• What is it?
◦ Parkinson’s disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movements.
◦ Cant be cured but medication can improve your symptoms
◦ In Parkinson’s, Certain nerve cells in the brain gradually break down or die

◦ The disease develops around the age of 60 and older
◦ Men are more likely to develop Parkinson’s disease

◦ Exposure to toxins can slightly increase the risk of Parkinson’s disease
Chiari Malformation Type 1
• What is it?
◦ In people with Chiari malformation their brain sits inside their skull in an unusual way. The change is structure can create pressure on parts of the brain and can affect the flow of fluid around the brain and spinal cord

Sciatica
• What is it?
◦ Pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve which branches down to the legs
◦ Most commonly occurs when a herniated disk compresses part of the nerve

◦ Most commonly occurs in people 30-50
◦ More common in men than women

- Risk Factors
◦ Obesity can increase pressure on the spine so excess weight can contribute to sciatica
◦ Occupation can play a role, many people who carry big loads or sit for a prolonged duration can develop this condition
Multiple sclerosis
• What is it?
◦ Potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord
◦ Immune system attacks the protective sheath that covers the nerve fibers and causes issues between the brain and the rest of the body

◦ Women are more likely to get MS than men
◦ Northern European descent are at the highest risk
