Anterior drawer test of ankle

Lower leg, foot & ankle
(Lift ankle)
Pte lays face up at the edge.  Examiner uses one hand to hold the foot on top to the table, the other hand grabs the heel in between the foot and lift up.
\+ Excessive anterior movement of talus
! Anterior talofibular ligament sprain

Talar tilt

A

Lower leg, foot & ankle
(Ever and inver foot)
Pte lays face up at the edge. Examiner cups both heels inver and eversion the foot.
+ Excessive eversion or inversion of both or one feet
! Excess eversion = deltoid ligament instability. Excess inversion = calcaneofibular ligament instability

Thompson’s test Achilles tendon rupture test

A

Lower leg, foot & ankle
(Massage from UB40 to achilles and see plantflexion)
Pte lays face down. Feet hanging on edge. Examiner squeezes calf.
+ Absence of plantaflexion
! Ruptured Achilles tendon

(Squeeze sole)
Pte lays face up.  Examiner grasps foot around heads and squeezes metatarsal heads together. (keep the metatarsal in line)
\+ Metatarasal pain
! Morton's neuroma
