Tendon Work

A
  • origins rectus femoris and sartorious (AIIS & ASIS respectively) through draping working medially to laterally to avoid inguinal area/lymph zones
  • circular friction w/ palm, thumb or finger pads
  • work around the knee with Bancroft sequence, sunburst, transverse friction
  • friction medial and lateral epicondyles of femur and medial and lateral codnyles of tibia
  • “susie’s window box”

Q

Hamstrings

Tendon

A
  • Use fist or lifted plow for direct pressure on ischial tuberosity
  • Use micromovements superior to inferior on medial ischial tuberosity
  • Work medial to lateral on inferior and lateral ischial tuberosity
  • Work just distal to ischial tube. to work hamstring tendon
  • “susie’s window box” around popliteal region
  • focus work through medial and lateral hamstring tendons

Tibialis Anterior

Tendon

A
  • Bancroft sequence to warm up foot
  • Focus on medial cuneiform and base of 1st metatarsal
  • Work along TA tendon onto dorsal foot and over ankle
  • work origin just below lateral condyle of tibia

Broad

A

Facing head or feet with hand/fist

Facing perpendicular to work cross fiber just off and lateral to tibia (be mindful muscle belly only goes 1/2 way down the tibia)

Q

Gastrocs & Soleus

Tendon

A
  • Posterior calcaneus, all around and plantar attachment
  • Posterior knee (medial and lateral epicondyles of femur and medial and lateral condyles of tibia)
16
Q

Gastrocs & Soleus

P+S

A

With leg beginning in flexed position and foot held in dorsiflexion, top hand compresses muscle belly (pressure down toward end of table) while bottom hand plantar flexes foot

17
Q

Gastrocs & Soleus

Drain

A

Work at least 3 lines

18
Q

Gastrocs & Soleus

Susie’s Additional Warm Up Strokes

A
  • mixer: alternating wrist/forear strokes down bellies from calcaneus to popliteal
  • pulling: pulling calf muscles up away from bone using heels of both hands slowly
  • Combing: finger pads work a pulling/combing/dragging stroke across gastrocs from popliteal to calcaneus
  • Modified Fascia Line: Fingertips work to separate gastroc bellies and gastrocs from soleus with fingertips of both hands centered between grastrocs and pulling from popliteal to calcaneuys
19
Q

ROM

A

Leg @ knee
- flexion (hamstrings)
- extension (quads)
