What is definition of low adhesion?
Poor railhead adhesion is where contamination of the rail headcauses trains to experience lessadhesion or grip.
Report to signaller immediately.
Such as Wheel slip caused by containment on the rail head, ie leaves, chemicals, bad weather.
What conditions make it reportable?
In an area where you wouldn’t normally expect not signed as low adhesion
Not listed in sectional appendix
If you did have reportable conditions what would be your actions?
Stop and report immediately to signaller
If you are carrying out a controlled test stop at bay platform?
Only if you have been assured that the bay platform has been treated.
If you do not think you are going to stop at a buffer stop, red signal or platform, what should you do?
Emergency brake
How do you carry out a controlled test stop?
Drive and brake as normal
If in a platform and stopped short?
2 and 2 on bell buzzer
If any doubts of rail head conditions what should you do?
Running brake test
Brake earlier
Travel at a reduced speed, drive to conditions
