What is CBT?
- A form of psychotherapy that aims to identify and change negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors to improve emotional wellbeing
What research method was used?

- Longitudinal design (10 weekly CBT sessions and 1, 3, 6 month follow up)
Randomised controlled non-inferiority trial (RCNT)
Tests whether a new treatment is not signficantly worse than an existing one. It involves randomly assigning ppts to different groups.

- 72 patients
- Diagnosed with OCD.
- Aged between 16 and 65 years old.
- All from the UK and attended one of two outpatient clinics.
- Participants all scored at least 16 (moderate-severe OCD) on the YBOCS
- Did not suffer from substance misuse or other conditions such as severe depressive disorder (no comorbidity- limit extraneous variables)

What is Becks Depressive Inventory?
A 21 item self-report item used to measure the severity of depressive symptoms and attitudes. It consists of 21 multiple-choice questions related to symptoms such as mood, behavior, and physical symptoms.
