- Provide medications pursuant to medication orders for individual residents, properly labeled for the resident
- Dispense medications for residents of long-term care facilities consistent with the drug distribution system described in the facilities’ policies and procedures
- Maintain records of all transactions of the long-term care pharmacy
- Provide 24-hour emergency service either directly or by contract with another pharmacy
- Review patient profiles to ensure the appropriateness of therapy and the compatibility of the medication and dosage for that resident
- Provide accurate information facility staff regarding appropriate administration and use of all dispensed medications and devices
- Communicate with consultant pharmacist and the facility

A
- A supply of emergency medications may be provided by one or more long-term care pharmacies.
- Stock shall be limited to a listing determined with the consultant pharmacists and the facility’s medical director and director of nursing
- In addition to one or more emergency boxes or stat drug boxes, a long-term care facility may maintain a stock of IV fluids, irrigation fluids, heparin flush kits, medicinal gases, sterile water and saline, and prescription devices.
