FLAGS
a piece of cloth, varying in size, shape, colour, and design, usually attached at one edge to a staff or cord, and used as a means of signalling, etc.; ensign; standard; banner; pennant
Rigging
The metal structure used to support scenery, lights, curtains, etc and where these are mounted and controlled
Pyrotechnic
The art of making or displaying fireworks
A.V. (Audio Visual) Cues
An action or event that is a signal for something else to happen, or a signal for something to start or change.
Geysers
Devices that shoot hot water and steam into the air to add special effects on stage
Entourage
A group of personal attendants, employees etc. surrounding an important person
pipe & drape
Light-weight aluminium tubing and drapery/fabric used to separate exhibit booths/stands, staging areas, and other similar locations.
Radius Clause
Part of the contract stipulating that the talent can not play another show within X miles for X days from the date of a show in a certain area.
confetii cannon
Causes little pieces of paper to rain down on the stage set and audience seating areas.
scrim
Curtain or panel made of gauzelike fabric. Can be lighted from within to create different ambience.
runners
People who physically transfer messages or items during events
Megaphone
A large funnel-shaped device used to make the voice sound louder by directing the sound waves straight out to listeners.
Traffic Wand
Used in busy parking lot at a sporting event, they are lighted up and make it easy to tell drivers where you want them to go
Load Out
Moving equipment out of the venue, until the specific maximum time
Load In
Moving equipment into the venue, at the specific times
down stage
Area on the stage closest to audience
Up Stage
Area at the back of the Load stage, far from audience
Stage Left
the left side of the stage from the actor’s perspective as he or she faces the audience
Stage Right
the stage area to the audience’s left as he or she faces the stage.
float over
The mechanism used to hover an object over the audience
consumables
Supplies that are used disposed of after use such as paper cups.
floor plan
Scale drawing of a function room with specific set-up requirements (tables, chairs, etc.) drawn to scale.
Seating Plan
The detailed location of where every person should be seated or the plan of prices according to the location
Talent
The name given to the main person in the event. It could be the actor, performer, signer, band, guest speaker etc.
staging
The spectacle a play presents in performance, including the position of actors on stage, the scenic background, the props and costumes, and the lighting and sound effects
front of the house
Area in the audience portion of venue where the main sound console and light controls can be found.
