When briefing the MFR company page 10-3C-2, engine out off of 32 with the Jackson departure, what is the big gotcha?
The biggest threat here is not programming the correct VNAV CAP EO AFE altitude into the FMS. On step 3, it says reaching 2,500’, accelerate, retract flaps. The airport is 1335’. So to program the correct AFE, take 2,500-1,335= 1,165’. You can just put 1,200’ in for VNAV CAP EO.
Another threat is notice on the company page it says “REDUCED THRUST TAKEOFFS PROHIBITED.” Do not send for FLEX, takeoff with full thrust. (Windshear numbers accomplishes this)
Out of MFR you will be assigned the Jackson 1 departure runway 32. What altitude must you be at before crossing the OED VOR?
7,000’. This is nearly impossible without requiring a hold. If you brief the hold, they will most likely give you direct BTG, skipping the procedure altogether. Do not forget to brief this hold as it is part of the procedure!
Describe the entry procedure for the Jackson 1 departure hold at OED coming from runway 32. What altitude would it be safe to proceed on course?
Hold:
(Can be either parallel or teardrop. Below is parallel)
1.) Once you pass the fix just fly outbound on a heading of 333° for 1 minute.
2.) make a left turn to intercept the 153° Bearing to OED.
3.) Once you join the course and cross OED, right turn to 333° heading. 1
Min, keep it going until 7,000’.
Safe altitude is 7,000’ then proceed on course
Basic flow of events if you get an engine abnormal start
- ) abort the start (memory item)
- ) QRC (repeats the memory item)
- ) QRH (actual procedure)
- ) decide to call MX or try again.
If the runway is 14 for departure, what should you set the VNAV CAP EO to?
1300’. (2,600’ is acceleration on the complex special 10-3C-1 and 1,335 is airport elevation).
This runway also requires no reduced thrust takeoff. Use windshear numbers.
