Q
Horizontal Jumping Mature
A
Jump off a box and make different shapes (straight, wide, round, twisted, star) while landing softly and safely
- Jump over separated ropes on floor, move ropes for distance
- Create a routine with different jumps, shapes and turns
- Combine jumping and catching a ball in controlled environment
- Combine running, jumping and catching in a controlled environment
4
Q
Running Initial
A
- Walk in a straight line
- Walk in open space around obstacles
- Walk in open space around obstacles changing speeds
- Freeze on command and walk in open space by adding peers
- Walk with peers in different pathways
5
Q
Running Elementary
A
- Run in straight line
- Run as fast as you can between 2 cones, 20 ft apart then close them in
- Travelling between open space to music (slow vs fast- walk vs run)
- Students create their own pathways with ropes/cones and explore the area using walking and running
- On signal students will run the pathway as directed by the teacher
6
Q
Running mature
A
- Red light, green light, walking/running/stopping from one side of gym to other with large group
- Run in open space dodging others and listening or watching for signals from teacher
- Run dogging others but add obstacles, hula hoops, low apparatus, spots, ropes, cones
- Dodging other moving students in a large space, then degrease the size
- Appropriate Tag Games
7
Q
Leaping Initial
A
- Run as high as you can in the air
- Run quickly with short steps, then leap forward in a giant step through the air
- Leap forward with strong landing/quite landing
- Leap forward over a line on the floor
- leap into a hula hoop/large target
8
Q
Leaping Elementary
A
- Place one rope 5 feet away from the start of the approach, run fast over the rope
- Place two ropes parallel 5 ft away from the start of the approach and run as fast as possible over the ropes
- Slowly increase the distance between ropes, tell students it’s a river and we can fall in so have to leap across
- Leap over beanbag or small object
- Leap over a large object
9
Q
Leaping Mature
A
Have student explore leaping on their non-dominate side
- Leaping in a rhythmic patter with music
- In general space, ask student to demonstrate a variety of loco movement include leap
- move through an obstacle course set up to include leaping
- Leaping and catching an object in flight
10
Q
Galloping Initial
A
- Moving body in different shapes, feet together feet apart in straddle stance
- Traveling forwards, backwards, sideways
- Travel slowly on a line with their preferred 1 leap foot and 1 trail foot0 assess whether their trail leg crosses the lead leg
- Place stickers on dominant heal and non-dominant toe to encourage trail leg to say behind
- Increase speeds traveling on a line and include the cues: step, together
11
Q
Galloping Elementary
A
- Galloping on a line using different speeds
- Galloping in different directions/pathways
- Galloping while changing directions and speeds
- Galloping through an obstacle course using over, through, around
- Gallop in a large space with other students while paying attention to self-space careful not to pop others bubbles
12
Q
Galloping Mature
A
- Student gallop while following the rhythm of the music
- Gallop to music while changing directions, pathways and levels
- Gallop while shadowing your partner and changing directions, pathways, speeds
- Gallop while chasing, fleeing, dodging with a partner
- Gallop with a partner to rhythm of the music
13
Q
Sliding Initial
A
- Explore bases of support using narrow and wide foot placement
- Side to side shuffle in general space
- Students line up in circle and practice moving side to side with toes pointed to the center
- On scooter, students work on moving feet side to side while moving their scooter sideways
- While sitting on a scooter, move sideways with the focus of not crossing their feet while on a line
14
Q
Sliding Elementary
A
- Sliding on a line using different speeds
- Sliding in different directions/pathways
- Sliding while changing different speeds on different pathways
- Sliding though an obstacle course using over, under and around
- Sliding in a large space with other students while paying attention to self space and not pop other students bubbles
15
Q
Sliding Mature
A
- Student slide while following the rhythm of the music/ changing speeds
- Sliding while shadowing each others movement
- Sliding while matching a partner: matching different pathways, speeds, directions
- Sliding with a partner mirroring, tossing a soft ball to each other with a bounce
- The combination of multiple loco skills to create routines
16
Q
Hopping Initial
A
- Balance on preferred leg without support
- Balance on preferred leg while placing bean bags on different body parts
- Balance on 1 leg trying to pick up something of the floor
- Hop off one foot and land on two feet inside a hula-hoop
- Hop continually 3-5 times in self-space on dominant/non-dominant leg
