LO6 Sensory System Flashcards
What does the lens do
Bends the light into focus on the retina
What does the iris do
Controls the diameter and size of the pupil and amount of light let in
What does the pupil do
Let’s light into eye
What does the retina do
Converts light into electrical signals
What does the optic nerves do
Turns electrical signals into images in your brain
What does the cornea do
Let’s light through to the kens and begins focusing on
What does the suspensory ligaments do
Holds lens into place
What does the ciliary muscles do
Pulls the lens for focusing
Why is it bad for too much light into the eye
Damage to light sensitive cells
Why is it bad for too little light into the eye
Not enough to stimulus the cells
What works together to focus on images on the retina
Cornea and lens
Where does refraction happen the most in the eyes
Cornea
What is the lens made out of
Elastic fibres and are attached to suspensory ligaments to facilitate these changes
What shape is the lens when focusing on something far away and more or less fluid
Thic and more fluid
What shape is the lens when focusing on something close and more or less fluid
Thin and less fluid
