What is personal hygiene?
Personal hygiene is when a person keeps themself clean and prevents bacteria.
How does personal hygiene measures protect individuals?
Prevents the transfer of bacteria
Correct hand washing routines can destroy bacteria.
The individual carries fewer bacteria which reduces the spread of infection
Not wearing jewellery removes places for bacteria to live
Not wearing nail varnish removes risk of it flacking off into food or a wound
If hair is tied back and covered it reduces risk of it dropping into food.

A procedure is a set of actions carried out in a particular order.
What’s a measure?
A specific action such as putting up fire safety noticed or wet floor signs.

What’s a security measure?

Personal protective equipment.
