what could direct costs be?
A
- clams on employers and public liability insurance.
- sick pay
- fines

what could indirect costs be?
A
- recruitment costs
- overtime payments.
- low staff morale

what could a disciplinary action be?
A
- formal disciplinary procedures (eg 1st on is a written warning, final waning and dismissal).
- investigations must happen before disciplinary action is taken, relevant information and facts must be obtained. employee may be suspended during the criminal investigation.

what could criminal prosecutions be?
A
- health & safety at work - if an offence has been committed then they can be charged with gross negligence manslaughter can be brought.
- failure to respond could cause a conviction up to 2 years or a fine.
- corporate manslaughter offence committed by organisations from senior management
- fines

what could being removed from professional registers be?
A
- regulators (NMC) hold registers of professionals. they have a duty to safeguard.
- it’s an offence to practice a nurse or midwife without membership of NMC
- members can be stuck off the register, suspended for up to 2 years.

what could causing harm or injury be?
A
- lack of procedure for risk assessment can mean hazards aren’t identified.
- individuals are responsible for working with employers in prompting their own and others health, safety and welfare. not dong so can result in harm or injuries to themselves or others.

what could being harmed or injured mean/do?
A
- failure to meet health & safety responsibilities can lead to injury or harm. this can be minor, serious or fatal.
- most common are pressure sores and falls.
