LO1 Flashcards
What is amplitude?
The maximum distance reached by a wave perpendicular to the direction of propagation.(meters)
What are 4 types of pulse modulation?
Amplitude, width, position & density.
What is SNR?
A measurement of the background noise in comparison to the working signal of the system.
What is diffraction?
The bending of waves around an obstacle.
What is refraction?
The bending of of a wave due to the change in velocity of the wavelength when passing through a medium.
What is phase coding?
When a long pulse is divided into a series of shorter sub pulses.
What are the 4 types of pulse modulation?
-Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM).
-Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).
-Pulse Position Modulation (PPM).
-Pulse Density Modulation (PDM).
What are the different types of frequency phases?
-AM
-FM
-PM
-Pulse Amp
-Pulse Density
-Pulse width
What is multiplexing?
-A structure consisting of three axis; code, frequency and time.
-A way of sending multiple signals or streams of information over a communications link at the same time in the form of a single, complex signal.
What are radiation patterns?
A graph showing the actual intensity/strength of a propagated radio wave at a fixed distance.
