List the right tools for the job.
- Shovel.
- Spade.
- Rake.
- Hoe.
- Monkeye Hammer.
- Rubber strap
Step one 1 Removing of the sod and loosening and removal of the Soil.
Mark out and dig a square pit double the width of the roots. Think wide rather than deep.
Step 2 Place plant and line up to nursery mark with spade.
In dry conditions you may water the pit before placing the plant. then Place plant and line it up to nursery mark with spade.
Step 3. Stake the tree.
Remove the tree from the pit
and
very important… remember to protect the root hairs from drying out by placing them back into the bag.
Then using the monk eye, hammer the stake into the ground.
Step 4. Place tree into the pit, ajacent to the stake and line it up.
- Ensure the tree is lined up correctly with the stake.
- Back fill the pit, make sure to use the shovel and watch your form.
- Remember to shake excess soil to avoid air pockets below the roots.
- Gently firm in the soil with your heel.
- Use the rake to remove any stones or other unwanted items.
Step 5.
Secure the tree to the stake.
- Use appropriate tie material to attach the tree to the top of the stake.
- Nail the tie with the ridges on the inside in a figure 8 loop.
- Ensure it firm, tight and secure.
- Finally water the tree.
