Paralanguage

Examples: speed of speech, tone of voice and body language.

Skills having to do with reading and writing.
Paraphrased Quotation
A meaning expressed rather than exact words.
Language Transfer
The transfer knowledge from L1 to L2.
Transition Words
Phrases and words used to link sentences, paragraphs, and ideas together.
Examples are first, next, last, and on the other hand.
Transfer
The process of student learning when students are able to use the knowledge or skill in new situation.
Precise (Writing)
In writing, a sentence that contains specific details and avoids wordy descriptions.
Saying turquoise instead of light bluish green.
Dialogue Tag
Is followed or preceded by a comma or punctuation mark, with quotation marks around the quotation.
Example: As Mark exited the highway, he thought, “I hope this is the right way.”
Schema (when reading)
Background knowledge a reader brings to a text.
Demonstrative Pronoun
Examples: this, that, these, those.
Overgeneralization
The application of a grammar rule in a place where it doesn’t apply.
